传记

Lawrence 'Larry' S. 琼斯, 博士学位, received his Bachelor of Science in geology from Fort Lewis College, his Master of Science in geology from Northern Arizona University and went on to earn his 博士学位 in geology from the University of Wyoming. An Instructor of Geology, 琼斯 teaches Geology of Colorado, Field-Based Introduction to Physical Geology, Applied Geomorphology, 盆地分析, Depositional Systems, and Subsurface Methods. His teaching style uses field examples to reinforce and replace the traditional classroom lecture and lab.

琼斯 has taught and developed field-based courses at multiple schools and was a co-principal investigator in a field-based National Science Foundation-funded student research project 卡内基梅隆大学. He said CMU's location allows field-based learning to be a reality for many geology courses that are taught solely in the classroom at other universities.

琼斯 has a past filled with geological experience. He has been everything from a consulting geologist, to a staff and project geologist, to eventually becoming a geology instructor and professor at both CMU and Rocky Mountain College. His scholarly interests include river channel and floodplain processes, sedimentation related to fires, fluvial sedimentology, fluvial architecture and eolian sedimentology.
